Son of missionaries to Africa, Jake completed high school in Jos, Nigeria. He earned his Master’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis before graduating from McCormick Seminary in 2001. Jake served churches in Illinois and South Carolina before coming to Topsail as the Transitional Pastor in 2015. He serves on the Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry and is on the Board of the Community Counseling Center in Wilmington. He is an avid boater, fisherman and has multiple US Sailing certifications and carries a USCG Captain’s License. Jake is the proud father of Joe (Senior in Aeronautical Engineering at Embry-Riddle) and Ben (Sophomore in Biology at Clemson University). In addition to the Bible, Jake likes to read John Philip Newell, Richard Rohr and Henri Nouwen. He is also a dedicated Yoga practitioner.
