Cam Thomas comes from the small rural community of Barbeque, NorthCarolina. After earning a BA in History from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (2007}, Cam spent four years as a high school teacher and football coach at Western Harnett High School in Lillington, North Carolina. It was there that he became reacquainted with Mary Melissa Goodnight whom he had first met and fallen in love with while in the third grade. Cam and Mary married in 2010.
Upon feeling the call to the ministry, Cam and Mary moved to Richmond, Virginia where Cam entered Union Presbyterian Seminary. He graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 2014. While at the seminary, he served as the Youth Group Director at Second Presbyterian Church in Richmond.
Beginning in June of 2014, Cam became an Associate Minister at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, a 1,300-member church with a large staff.
In addition to preaching at both contemporary and traditional services,
Cam taught small groups of adults and youth, provided pastoral care, and engaged in many community events including acting as the volunteer chaplain for the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
While serving at First Presbyterian, Cam and Mary received a very special blessing in 2015 with the birth of their now two-and-a-half-year-old son Perry.
Topsail Presbyterian Church is pleased to have Cam as our new pastor (May 1, 2018). The TPC family hopes to enjoy many happy years with Pastor Cam and his lovely family.
